The Ontario Professional Ticketing Association was established in 1990.
OPTA is comprised of leaders in the Ontario ticketing industry. While centred in Toronto, OPTA welcomes members from across Ontario.
OPTA is Canada’s first and oldest professional association dedicated exclusively to issues relevant to the management of the ticketing industry. We have an unofficial working relationship with the International Ticketing Association (INTIX) based in New York.
OPTA Members include box office managers, patron services directors, marketing and sales directors, venue IT professionals, and industry suppliers. OPTA is open to all organizations with a ticketing presence.
OPTA welcomes over 79 organizations from across the province. Our membership is varied, representing organizations with different focuses, including: sports, theatres, performance venues, attractions and ticketing service providers.
If you would like to learn more about our organization or inquire about becoming a member, contact our Secretary, Alan Forsyth (aforsyth@mirvish.com).

OPTA is dedicated to the concerns with the support for preservation of and further development of fair ethics and high standards with regards to marketing, sales and service in the ticketing industry and to promote the development and maintenance of a high standard of service to the ticket-buying public and user groups.
Welcome to the Ontario Professional Ticketing Association (OPTA) Website!
On behalf of the OPTA Membership and Executive Board, I’m thrilled to welcome you to our community.
It is a true honour to serve as the President of OPTA, and I’m especially proud to be the first President from outside the Greater Toronto Area. This milestone reflects the growing diversity and reach of our organization, and I’m excited to represent our vibrant membership across Ontario.
With over 25 years of experience in the ticketing industry, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated professionals. I was deeply honoured to receive the Richard Carter Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020/2021—an award named after one of our founding members and a true pioneer in our field. I’ve also been an active member of INTIX and have had the opportunity to present at their conferences, sharing insights and learning from others in our global community.
I want to extend my sincere thanks to our immediate past President, Bruce Morrison, for his leadership and commitment to OPTA. I also want to express my deep appreciation to the entire OPTA Board for their continued dedication, collaboration, and hard work. Their efforts are the backbone of our organization and have helped us grow stronger each year.
While the ticketing landscape continues to evolve, our core values remain strong. OPTA is a community that supports, inspires, and learns from one another. As President, I am always open to being a sounding board. I welcome your thoughts, ideas, and feedback—especially as we plan for the year ahead. If you have suggestions for presenters, topics, or ways we can improve, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Together, let’s make this another incredible year for OPTA!
Warm regards,
Rebecca Brown, Kingston Grand Theatre, City of Kingston
